Human impact on the climate needs to be reduced.
The climate around us is and always will be one of the most important aspects of our lives. Although there have been concerns about the climate in the past, more information and a number of solutions have been found in the past few years alone.
Bill Richardson said in his article that “a collection of more than 800 leading climate scientists, reaffirms that climate impacts are already occurring and having a dramatic impact on society.” The large use of fossil fuels not only in the United States but all over the world has caused a negative impact on the climate.
For the past 29 years, global temperatures have been above average. Last year, there were 41 weather related disasters, costing a billion dollars to repair. There have been more and more wildfires and droughts in the United States and scientists don’t expect the climate to get any better in the near future. Rising temperature causes crop failure, making food more expensive, and natural disasters such as flooding.
Scientists know what is causing global warming and climate changes and they know of ways to prevent climate change, but more laws need to be set into place to protect the environment. Slowly but surely, Americans have been making progress through use of solar panels, companies investing in global energy, and emission standards being put into place for coal power plants.
To prevent more changes in climate, America and other nations need to take large steps in improving environmental issues. Without a healthy environment, people will suffer from disasters and crop failures, which will causes large expenses for many countries.
More strict laws need to be put in place regarding the fuel use of vehicles. Technology allows us to create and use electric and hybrid vehicles, limiting fuel use greatly. Laws should be put into place for higher fuel standards and supporting the creation and research of electric vehicles. Electric cars also helps consumers to save money on gas, which is economically friendly.
Although more knowledge of environmental issues has helped reduce the impact of humans recently, education and research should be furthered to prevent future impact on the environment. Many people aren’t concerned about their impact on the world around them, and they should be. People need to be more aware of the amount of fuel, water, electricity, and food they use or waste.
If dogs ran the government, more environmental regulations would be put into place and humans would be more conscious of their impact on the government.
